Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center provides leadership in the following:
- Holds the highest designation (Level III) for treating high-risk mothers and babies
- Holds the highest trauma designation from the American College of Surgeons, "Level I Trauma Center for Children and Adults"
- Home of the Mercy Heart & Vascular Center, the area's first and only freestanding facility for the treatment of heart and vascular diseases
- New cardiovascular surgery consortium
- Comprehensive Critical Care Transport Network (in conjunction with Univeristy Medical Center and St. Rita's Medical Center), including five Life Flight air ambulances and nine Mobile Intensive Care Units
- Site of the region's only Burn Care and Reconstructive Center
- Site of Mercy Children's Hospital which provides the highest level of specialized pediatric care in the area
- Site of the region's most advanced Surgery Center, with 18 modern surgical suites
- Premier provider of medical education programs including allopathic and osteopathic residencies, emergency medicine residency, and Mercy College of Northwest Ohio
- Sponsors many other significant patient care services, including comprehensive women's and children's services, cancer services, neurosciences and orthopedic programs; the Neurosurgery and Spine Institute; also sponsors seven specialized intensive care units, a progressive Transitional Care Unit and the region's first hospital based Palliative Care Unit
- Staffed by physicians in the hospital 24-hours-a-day in the following specialties: anesthesiology, emergency medicine, general surgery/trauma, neonatology (care for critically ill babies) and obstetrics

- St. Vincent was the first hospital in the area to offer robotic enhanced surgery. Since 2003, Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center has offered patients the latest in minimally-invasive surgical approaches through the use of the da Vinci® surgical system. The robot is currently being used in Vascular Surgery, Urology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Gynecology and Pediatric Urology among others
