Cryopexy
Cryopexy is an efficient non-surgical treatment to treat
retinal tears and detachment. Your Mercy Eye surgeon will administer either local or general anesthesia, dilate your eye and then apply a freezing probe to the hole or tear in your retina. The freezing causes inflammation which creates scarring to seal the hole and keep the retina attached to the tissue underneath. The new attachment ensures that fluid doesn’t escape which could cause the retina to detach again.
