Congenital Cataracts
Congenital Cataracts – children with congenital cataracts are typically diagnosed at birth or shortly afterward. Cataracts cloud the eye’s normally clear lens and markedly blur sight. Symptoms of congenital cataracts include: clouded eye lens
- an infant’s failure to visually react to images in his/her line of sight
- rapid spontaneous eye movement (either up and down or side to side)Depending on the severity congenital cataracts can be treated with glasses or contacts lenses, or surgery. Left untreated it can result in permanent vision loss.
