In less than eleven years our surgeons have performed more than 2,500 robotic surgeries.
|The Mercy Health Robotic Surgery Center offers the most technologically advanced robotic surgical procedures for cardiac, urologic, thoracic, gynecologic, bariatric and general surgery patients at Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center, Mercy Health - St. Charles Hospital and Mercy Health - St. Anne Hospital. The daVinci® Surgical System is a sophisticated surgical tool that provides our highly-skilled and experienced surgeons with:
Instead of more invasive, traditional open or laparoscopic surgery, the daVinci® Surgical System allows our surgeons to skillfully perform surgical procedures for a wide range of complex conditions through tiny, 1-2 cm incisions.
- greater surgical precision
- increased range of motion
- improved dexterity
- enhanced visualization
- improved access to the surgical field
Our robotic surgical system offers numerous patient benefits including:
We were the first hospital in our region to use the daVinci® Surgical System. In less than 11 years our surgeons have used the daVinci® Surgical System to perform more than 2,500 robotic operations. We are able to expertly provide a wide range of robotic procedures for numerous complex conditions.
- less pain
- less blood loss
- shorter hospital stay
- less risk of infection
- less scarring
- shorter overall recovery time
- faster return to normal daily activities
- in many cases, better clinical outcomes
||As a local leader in robotic surgery, The Mercy Health Robotic Surgery Center has a Laparoscopy, Simulation & Robotics (LaSR) Training Center. Surgical residents come to the LaSR Training Center to become proficient in the latest and most effective laparoscopy and robotic surgical techniques.
Our surgical team regularly performs the highest volume of total robotic procedures in the area. Our multidisciplinary robotic program offers cardiothoracic, urologic , thoracic, gynecologic and general surgery-related procedures.
Our team of over 25 robotic surgeons is assisted by a strong team of surgical nurses with more than 185 years of combined nursing experience and surgical technologists with more than 75 years of combined experience.
We require all of our staff to take rigorous ongoing training. Our surgical nursing staff is required to complete a specialized curriculum in robotic surgery and develop yearly competency for robotics. Certified Surgical Technicians (CSTs) who assist our robotic physicians have trained at the Cleveland Clinic or Good Samaritan Hospital of Cincinnati. We are also the only hospital in the area to require CST’s to complete a rigorous robotic and laparoscopic curriculum to improve skills and communication in the operating room.
Presently, we are also the only hospital in the country to have sent our robotic team to the nationally-renowned Texas Institute for Robotic Surgery in Austin.
