OT's are devoted to helping people with sensory, motor, cognitive, and behavioral difficulties learn how to perform purposeful activities as independently as possible. For children purposeful activities include play, self-care skills, and participation in school.
PT's are devoted to maximizing an individuals physical abilities and minimizing physical impairments. A pediatric physical therapist may use therapeutic exercise including balance activities, strengthening, stretching, or manual therapy techniques to assist the child in reaching functional goals.
Speech Therapists are devoted to training speech, voice, language, communiction, feeding and swallowing disabilities in children. Special training allows the therapists to help children speak more clearly, eat a variety of foods safely, use sign language or pictures as alternative forms of communication, improve memory skills, follow directions and improve language skills.
