"I Woke Up to the Beauty of Rain"

Beverly B. had difficulty seeing from early childhood. I was severely nearsighted and suffered a cat scratch on one eye; without strong prescription glasses, I couldn’t even see the Big E on the chart. I could make out images and color but not well. I wore thick glasses and then later in life added contact lenses. I could see fairly well but my vision still was not the best.
I was 45 and very excited when laser surgery first came out, but then I learned that I was not a candidate. Eventually I developed cataracts and glaucoma. I was afraid of the laser treatments for glaucoma, but was more afraid of losing my vision so I had two procedures which brought my eye pressure under control. In 2010 I was scheduled for cataract surgery, but was too scared to go through with it. I decided to learn more about lens implantation when my doctor said I needed another procedure for my glaucoma.
I chose Crystalens after my ophthalmologist explained the two types of lenses and I did some research. My surgery went well, and I am so proud of myself for doing it! The morning after my surgery I woke up to the beauty of rain. I don’t believe I ever saw real rain like I do now.
The Mercy Eye Center staff is all so well-trained, kind, considerate, understanding, and experts in their fields. I am so grateful to them all for the kindness and expert care they showed through all of my appointments, exams, and surgery. I am most appreciative to Dr. Reed who did my surgery. God is using you well!
