Tiffin, OH – Jeannie Ludwig was recognized as Mercy Tiffin Hospital’s Volunteer of the Year for 2013 at the annual Volunteer Celebration Banquet held on February 26, 2014 at the North Central Ohio Educational Service Center (NCOESC).

“We congratulate Jeannie on this well-deserved recognition as Volunteer of the Year,” said Bernie Steinmetz, manager of development, donor relations and volunteers at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.  “Jeannie has been a dedicated volunteer for a many years and helps us carry out our Mercy Mission.”

Over 70 volunteers attended the event, which featured a 1950s theme. Attendees were treated to a 1950s-style meal of beef sliders, chili dogs, cheesy potatoes, baked beans, pineapple upside cake and root beer and orange soda floats provided by Heidelberg Catering.  Marsha Danhoff, director of marketing, communication and development, welcomed the volunteers and Laurie Kaple, manager of retail services and volunteers, offered the prayer.  Following dinner and remarks by Bernie, Mercy rural division president & CEO, Lynn Detterman, was the featured speaker.  The volunteers also enjoyed games of Bingo.

“We enjoy hosting this event annually to recognize the great service that our volunteers provide,” said Marsha. “They go above and beyond to ensure that our patients and visitors receive compassionate and personal very good care.”

Sue Kuhn was recognized as the volunteer who worked the most hours in 2013 – a total of 1,179 hours. Jeannie Ludwig was one of four Volunteers of the Quarter recognized, before being announced as the Volunteer of the Year. The other Volunteers of the Quarter recipients included Nikki Twarek, Ellie Boes and Cindy Moyer.

“It is with great pleasure that we recognize our volunteers and, in a special way, our award recipients,” said Laurie. “The NCOESC provides us with a perfect venue to celebrate and recognize their achievements.”
