Toledo, OH - Mercy is pleased to welcome Jacalyn Liebowitz, BSN, MBA, NEA-BC, FACHE, who has been named Senior Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Quality Officer of Mercy.

Ms. Liebowitz joins Mercy from Allegiance Health, a two-hospital health system in Jackson, Michigan, where she most recently served as vice president of Patient Care Continuum, Chief Nursing Officer, and president of Hospice of Jackson.

“Jackie has been directly involved in many professional initiatives that closely reflect Mercy’s mission, strategy, and commitment to quality,” said Andrea Price, President and CEO of Mercy. “We look forward to her leadership in furthering the quality and staff development initiatives that distinguish Mercy as a leading care provider and employer in our market.”

Under Ms. Liebowitz’ lead, inpatient services at Allegiance received the Press Ganey compass award in 2006 for greatest improvement in patient satisfaction. She led the organization from the 60th percentile in overall employee satisfaction to the 90th percentile over a two-year period. She spearheaded a series of summits focused on nurse/physician relations, and created a patient safety vision and strategic plan which led to a 75 percent reduction in ventilator associated pneumonias and zero bacterial stream infections over a three-year period.

“I look forward to partnering with the talented team at Mercy to continue to elevate the excellence and care we deliver to our patients,” said Jackie, whose professional advancements are rooted in her clinical nursing and management background at William Beaumont Hospitals in Royal Oak, Michigan, and the associate administrative positions that she held in nursing and patient care at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

She has served on the faculty of the College of Nursing at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, and as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Jackie is currently an adjunct faculty member at Michigan State University.
