Toledo, OH. In support of its commitment to make high quality healthcare conveniently accessible to patients in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan, Mercy has expanded its footprint in ambulatory services with Mercy Advanced Heart Care in Monroe, Mich.
Prem Ghai, MD, hasoperated Advanced Heart Care as a solo practitioner since 1993, performing many procedures at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe, but also bringing his more complex cases to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. Dr. Ghai becomes employed by Mercy Medical Partners, and his practice transitions to Mercy Advanced Heart Care, effective Monday, April 9.
“Dr. Ghai will be Mercy’s first employed cardiologist in Monroe,” said Buzz Hermann, Mercy’s Cardiovascular Service Line Administrator. “In support of our Mission and brand promise, it simply made sense to expand our cardiovascular presence into Monroe in a more formal manner through this enhanced partnership with Dr. Ghai. The practice staff and location will remain the same, but Dr. Ghai, and by extension, all patients served by his practice, will enjoy the benefits of being part of the Mercy system.”
Dr. Ghai said the choice to partner with Mercy was natural.
“I’ve had close ties to St. V’s ever since I came to Monroe,” Dr. Ghai said. “I’ve been doing cardiac caths there because the facility offers state-of-the-art technology. Any cases I can’t do in Monroe, I have brought to St. V’s. I have been a solo cardiologist, but that is becoming a thing of the past. It is nice to partner with a larger entity for support and backup, and Mercy was the obvious choice for me.”
Dr. Ghai earned his medical degree from the University of Torino in Torino, Italy, and then completed residencies in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Bronx Lebanon Hospital in Bronx, Ny, and a Nuclear Cardiology Fellowship at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York, Ny, and is certified in Nuclear Cardiology. His practice has a lab that holds IAC Nuclear/PET accreditation through the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories (ICANL).
Dr. Ghai says his patient care philosophy is very simple.
“I treat every patient as if I am treating my own family member,” he said. “I would give my family the very best care I can provide, and would do so with compassion, with love, with dignity, and that is the kind of care I have been providing my patients in Michigan for the past 18 years.”
Mercy Advanced Heart Care is located at 1414 Stewart Rd, Monroe, MI, 48162, and can be reached at 734-242-8880.
