Mercy Children's Hospital Patient Named as 2012 Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Champion

Toledo, Ohio- Mercy Children’s Hospital is proud to announce that Eric R. been named this year's Children's Miracle Network Hospitals® Ohio Champion. Eric will serve throughout 2012 as an ambassador for Mercy Children’s Hospital, Ohio and all children treated at the North American charity's 170 member hospitals.
Always up for a challenge, Eric loves skateboarding, golfing, and water skiing—activities that might seem impossible for someone who is paralyzed from the knee down. Eric has had 20 operations, starting with the closure of his spinal chord when he was just 2 hours old. He is an eternal optimist and enjoys serving others, known for opening doors for them. Whenever he sees someone else in a wheelchair, he challenges them to race against his sporty wheelchair with custom-racing flames lining the seat, red wheels and lights.
