We are committed to be a people of prayer and faith, of learning and teaching. | | Specialties: | St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center believes that your spiritual well-being contributes to your physical health. The Pastoral Care Department provides the services of professionally prepared chaplains who represent a variety of religions, cultural, social and age groups. A chaplain is in the Medical Center 24 hours a day and may be requested at any time by calling the Medical Center Operator at 419-251-3232. The Pastoral Care Department at St. V’s also serves as a training site for theological education. Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) was begun in 1925 as a form of theological education that takes place not exclusively in academic classrooms, but also in clinical settings where ministry is being practiced. CPE is offered in many kinds of settings. Hospitals and health care is just one of the many options. After serving as a clinical site for CPE students for a number of years, St. Vincent has moved to offering a full-time summer CPE unit on it's campus, as well as a winter or spring internships, and year-long residency programs.
