Quality Committees

We at Mercy are committed to living our mission of providing compassionate, quality care to all patients and to improving the overall health of the communities we serve.

In fact, Mercy has established some of the highest quality standards in healthcare for patient health and safety. Our administration, medical staff leadership and employees play pivotal roles in this effort, as they not only deliver high quality care but also provide governance and oversight to ensure we achieve our quality goals.

These individuals serve on committees that establish best practices in the areas of quality, infection control and medical staff credentialing. These committees review, evaluate and maintain the quality and efficiency of patient care, ensuring we provide the safest possible environment to produce the best patient outcomes. Their realm of responsibility includes efforts such as:

• Ensuring compliance with state and national patient safety standards
• Establishing policies and procedures that reduce infection risk
• Reviewing new FDA-approved drugs that could benefit patients
• Reviewing and evaluating all surgical procedures for appropriateness and effectiveness
• Ensuring appropriate utilization of blood products
• Reviewing credentials of all medical staff applicants and make recommendations on their qualifications for medical staff privileges
