Brachytherapy in Northwest Ohio

Brachytherapy is an advanced cancer treatment that involves implanting radioactive substances or material directly into an organ or cavity to provide high doses of x-rays which target cancer cells. Radioactive seeds, or sources, are placed directly in or near the tumor itself, giving a radiation dose to the tumor while reducing radiation exposure to the surrounding health tissues.

The delivery of brachytherapy typically requires a team of medical specialists pulled together based on where the treatment needs to be delivered.
