Hemoglobin A1c is the preferred test to assess glycemic control. It provides an index of average blood glucose concentrtin over the prior 2-3 months.
What is the test?
A simple blood draw. A nurse or other clinician inserts a needle into your arm and withdraws a sample of blood to be analyzed in the lab.
Where is the test done"
The blood draw is done in either a hospital, outpatient lab, or your physician's office.
When will the results be ready?
Results are available within 24 hours of the blood collection.
