Fayyaz Haider Hashmi, M.D., FACS

 Fayyaz Hashmi, MD is the Medical Director for Mercy Cardiothoracic Surgical Associates. He is a dual board-certified cardiothoracic and thoracic surgeon with nearly 30 plus years of experience across all aspects of cardiovascular surgery. His clinical specialties include:

• off-pump coronary artery bypass with arterial conduits
• complex valve repair and replacement
• minimally invasive  and robotic valve surgery
• thoracic aortic aneurysm surgery
• surgery for staging and treatment of lung cancer

Prior to joining Mercy Cardiothoracic Surgical Associates, Dr. Hashmi maintained a private practice in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. There he launched the state’s first robotics and minimally-invasive cardiac surgery center at the Midwest Regional Medical Center. He returned to the U.S. in 2003 after establishing a successful private cardiac surgery practice for nearly a decade in Lahore, Pakistan.

Dr. Hashmi earned his MD from King Edward Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed his residencies at the University of Connecticut St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut; and the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

Dr. Hashmi is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Le Club Mitrale,  the American Medical Association and the International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery. He has presented at numerous national and international medical meetings including the Asian Pacific Congress of Cardiology and the Cardiovascular Session of the International Congress of Surgery. Dr. Hashmi’s articles have been published in several magazines and professional journals including Connecticut Magazine, Surgery, the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, and the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics.
